Team Profile

  • Andrew is a qualified secondary teacher with a strong academic background in computing, business, and technology, and a practical approach to teaching that focuses on clarity, confidence, and real-world understanding.

He holds a PGCE with QTS in Secondary Computer Science and is registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC). His academic background includes a BSc in Business Information Technology, an MSc in Real Estate, and a BTEC National Diploma in Computing and Networking, giving him a broad and applied understanding of how technology, systems, and business connect beyond the classroom.

  • Andrew’s teaching is structured, calm, and deliberately paced. He specialises in breaking complex concepts into manageable steps, helping pupils build understanding piece by piece before moving forward.

This approach is particularly effective for pupils who:

    • lack confidence in technical subjects

    • feel overwhelmed by exam content

    • benefit from clear explanations and structure

    • need learning linked to real-world application

Regular assessment, exam practice, and applied examples are central to his work, ensuring pupils understand why something matters — not just how to memorise it.

  • Andrew has taught across KS3, KS4, and KS5, including a period leading the Computer Science department at Bishop Gore School, where he delivered the full curriculum across year groups.

    His experience includes:

    • KS3 computing, with a focus on digital literacy and preparation for GCSE study

    • GCSE Computer Science (WJEC), including structured exam preparation

    • Supporting pupils through exam technique, revision planning, and confidence-building

Alongside mainstream teaching, Andrew has regularly taught pupils with additional learning needs, adapting lessons, differentiating content, and working alongside teaching assistants and ALNCOs to ensure pupils could access learning effectively.

  • A key part of Andrew’s work has always been helping pupils feel prepared and capable.

    He regularly ran:

    • after-school revision and confidence-building sessions

    • guided exam practice using past papers

    • structured support focused on progression routes and next steps

Parents consistently valued the clarity of explanation and the focus on building confidence rather than pressure.

  • Andrew holds additional training in:

    • Safeguarding Children (Level 2)

    • Autism Awareness

    • Epilepsy Awareness

    • Classroom Management

He holds an active DBS and works in line with safeguarding and professional standards expected within UK education.

  • At ThinkaLearn, Andrew delivers online tutoring for secondary pupils in:

    • Computing

    • Computer Science

    • Business-related subjects

His work complements ThinkaLearn’s wider learning and development approach, ensuring academic support is structured, supportive, and responsive to individual needs; whether a pupil requires subject-specific tutoring or a calmer, more confidence-focused approach to learning.
